Quality Assurance for the Memorial Industry

Training

NAMM is a City & Guilds Assured Training Provider. To maintain this status, an annual audit and inspection of training provision, required procedures, and documentation are required. NAMM is one of the few City & Guilds Assured training providers permitted to issue its own certification certificates. Additionally, all candidates who successfully complete a NAMM City & Guilds Assured training course are provided with City & Guilds Assured digital credentials.

NAMM trainers and assessors are City & Guilds qualified.

From the early days, NAMM organised specialised seminars for members. In 1986, it became the managing agent for a City & Guilds validated training course devised by its Technical and Training Committee in conjunction with Bath College. This move resulted in the Department of Employment conferring upon it the status of ‘Approved Training Organization.’

NAMM has maintained a close working relationship with City & Guilds, jointly developing bespoke meaningful training and qualifications aimed at raising standards and providing assurances through the validation of essential trade skills and knowledge.

In 2009, NAMM Head Office achieved City & Guilds NPTC Centre status. All NAMM assessors are NPTC qualified, and NAMM also has several City & Guilds qualified tutors. NPTC assessors must be reverified every two years and undergo continuous internal IQA observations to ensure the application and content of training and assessing achieve the required standard.

In 2018, NAMM gained further recognition of excellence through attaining City & Guilds Assured Training Provider status. This has raised the quality assurance bar yet again regarding the standard of training provided by NAMM. NAMM is currently the only training provider in the UK that can offer memorial industry-based City & Guilds Assured training combined with City & Guilds NPTC final Assessment and Certification. This combination provides the utmost assurance to those seeking confirmation of the standard of training and certification provided by NAMM.

NAMM Diploma

Achieving NAMM City & Guilds Assured Certification in the required memorial masonry core skills, such as the memorial fixing unit and at least one of the PESM (Produce and Embellish Standard Memorials) courses, will enable the awarding of the NAMM Diploma. This affirms the holder as a craft memorial mason in line with the National Occupational Standards definition for that occupation.

NAMM is determined to support the craft and preserve and promote the skills that define the memorial mason. These skill-based training units will be assessed on-site, enabling the pace of learning and the final assessment to be geared to individual candidates’ ability, circumstances, and requirements.

NAMM’s training programs are recognised by City & Guilds/ILM, the global experts in learning excellence and quality.
